Introduction: Our Big Year-End Plan
So here’s how it started. One evening, Gargi and I were sitting together and exchanging ideas about what to do on a year-end holiday. We did not need to take just another routine vacation. We wanted something epic.
We had always wanted to go to Australia, to its fusion of cosmopolitanism and craziness in cities, natural amusements to the point of madness, and places where the creatures of the forest reside. We bought some weeks later finally from SegvTours.com. Their 13 Day All of Australia Tour sounded ideal. We booked it in October and were away on 6th December.
Whether it was the Great Ocean Road to the Great Reef, or the Penguin Parade to skydiving high above Sydney, each day became a core memory. Here’s how it all went down.
Melbourne & Surrounds: The Perfect Kickoff
Great Ocean Road Drive
We joined in Melbourne, a cultured coffee city. But the true view was the Great Ocean Road. Imagine crashing cliffs, waves falling on the bottom, and the expanse of an infinite ocean next to the road. It felt cinematic. And finally when we arrived at the Twelve Apostles we did the optional helicopter ride. Absolutely unreal.
Yarra Valley & MCG
Then we visited Yarra Valley a day later. We jumped through the vineyards, drank only good wines, and tasted high-quality cheeses. It was cold, romantic, and technically, it was what we badly needed after our road trip adventure.
Next followed the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). As a cricket fan, I found myself in a temple of good sport. Even Gargi, not such a fan as I am, fell into it.
Penguin Parade at Phillip Island
The most pleasant of all memories of Melbourne? The Penguin Parade in Phillip Island. During sunset, we could see little penguins walking back and forth to their holes to end the day in the sea. It was lovely, enchanted and made us smile like little children.
Cairns: Where Reef Meets Rainforest
Great Barrier Reef Adventure
Melbourne is an urban hub and our flight to Cairns was literally met with adventure. The highlight? The cruise to Green Island in the Great Barrier Reef. We snorkeled, swam, and drifted through the coral gardens. It was as though we were drifting through a nature film.
Kuranda Rainforest Exploration
On the following day we visited Kuranda Rainforest. We were flying at an altitude of about ten meters above the trees in the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway. Then we rode down through the shrubs on the Scenic Railway. Two perspectives—one broad and grand, the other small and detailed—helped us appreciate the wonder of this rainforest.
Hot Air Balloon Sunrise
There was also a choice to have a hot air balloon ride at sunrise. Hanging motionless over the sceneries when the sky was pink and golden—it was one of those rare romantic travelling days you never forget.
Sydney: The Big Finale
Showboat Dinner Cruise
Sydney was our final destination and it was all we hoped it would be. We began with a Showboat dinner cruise in Sydney Harbour. Eating with the Opera House and Harbour Bridge lit in the background was unforgettable.
Skydiving Over Sydney
Next was the most ridiculous activity—skydiving. Jumping off a plane was not only the most exciting experience but also life-changing. Floating over the gleaming sea and the city skyline was surreal. Gargi and I still laugh because we screamed all the way down—it was one of the best things we’ve ever done.
Blue Mountains & Scenic World
We took plenty of time in the Blue Mountains. Foggy cliffs, waterfalls, and endless green vegetation made it a complete journey into another world. At Scenic World, we rode cable cars and hiked past cliff-edges. It was the perfect calm ending to a holiday full of adrenaline rush.
Why SegvTours Made It Seamless
Now, let me be real. This sort of planning would have been a pain had we been doing it on our own. Flights, transfers, hotels, guides—it’s a lot. But SegvTours made it look easy.
- Itinerary: Just the right amount of time, no hurry, no wasted days.
- Guides: Likeable, and conducted everything with interest.
- Logistics: Hotels, transfers, timing—everything was on schedule.
- Flexibility: Options for helicopter rides, hot air balloons, or skydiving made the trip personalized.
- Service: The support team was available anytime we needed help, even for small details.
We did not spend time speculating about what to do next—we simply relished the adventure.

Australia provided us with breathtaking views, epic experiences, and adorable moments of love. But it was SegvTours that allowed us to have a good time. They were the behind-the-scenes team, so we just had to live the magic.
