Chichen Itza is one of the most significant archaeological sites of the Maya civilization and is recognized as one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World. The site is dominated by the Pyramid of Kukulkan, also known as El Castillo, which served as a temple to the feathered serpent god. The site’s most iconic structure, El Castillo, was used as a watchtower and lighthouse, guiding sailors through the reef. On the way back, visit Coba Ruins. Coba was once a powerful Maya city, connected by an extensive network of stone causeways called sacbeob. The site’s most famous structure is Nohoch Mul, the tallest pyramid in the Yucatán, which offers panoramic views of the surrounding jungle from its summit.
